Life of a New Teacher!!

Some of you may be wondering why I haven't posted anything in ages and I have three words for you...FIRST YEAR TEACHER!! Don't get me wrong, I am loving being a teacher but it is very time consuming. I am warning you now this post may be a little long because I'm going to try to give you a brief recap of the past few months. We spent both the 4th of July and 24th of July in Delta. They have a big celebration with a parade and demolition derby. It isn't any ordinary demolition derby. It lasts about 5 hours with 11 heats. They even do a heat using trucks. After the parade on the 24th, we went for a drive out west of Delta. I think that if the world was flat we would have fallen off. Just kidding Jerry. We had a good time. We went to see a cave that a hermit lived in around the 1930's and to Sinbad Springs. I was a little nervous because it was straight down on the other side. Also while we were in Delta I learned to quilt. My mother in law has helped me become quite a little homemaker. I started work the middle of August. I had a lot to do since I was found out which school I was at 2 weeks before school started, and the lady that taught in my room before me decided to retire and left her stuff in the room. Thanks to my great mom, I was ready for the first day of school. I am starting to get the hang things and really enjoy my 6th graders. There are 30 of them and they can be a handful at times. But for the most part they are good. Dust is feeling left out that none of this has been about him. He bought a new truck about a month ago. We sold his green Dodge and he got a new Grey Dodge. It is a quad cab so it has been nice to have the extra room. Hopefully that extra room will come in handy one day for a carseat. I'll just have to keep wishing for now. Dust also just added that I never blogged about the little cabin/shed him and my dad built this summer. It did turn out really nice. They both call it their "Man Club". Supposedly, that is were they are going to reload bullets and stuff. Dust's other project for the summer was fixing the old family tractor. It looks brand new and runs great. Well this has been quite an update. Hopefully now that teaching is slowing down a little, I will be able to blog more regularly.

Noticed the little "man club" and wondered if it was the 'dog house'? Of course no one at your house would ever have to be in the 'dog house'. Glad you updated-I check often. Awesome mome to have you ready for the 1st day of school!

I totally know how you feel! I didn't get into my classroom until a week before and I had all the last teachers stuff to sort through!
I'm lucky if I leave the school before it gets dark. This should get easier right?
I'm sure you're doing great. Just keep plugging along!
